F. DeLane Duncan, 84, passed away Monday, April 4, 2022, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare. DeLane was born Sept, 30, 1937, in Columbus County, to the late Vollie C. Duncan and Nellie Nobles Duncan. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Peggy; four brothers; and four sisters.
DeLane was a graduate of Laurinburg High School. He was a founding member of Brunswick Volunteer Fire Department, where he served several years. He worked for Hub’s Supply for 26 years before going to work at Whiteville Fire Department, where he retired to care for his wife.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 7, at McKenzie Mortuary. His funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, April 8, at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 307 S. Franklin St., Whiteville. Burial will be in the Chadbourn Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers will be the 1955 graduating class of Laurinburg High School.
Left to cherish his memory are his two sons, Mike Duncan (Jackie) of Whiteville and Chris Duncan (Teresa) of Calabash; one sister, Nell Duncan of Chattanooga, Tenn.; three grandchildren, Laney Duncan, Kaitlin Austin (Rob) and Jenna Duncan; and a special niece, Brenda Sellers.
In lieu of flowers and food, donations may be made to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, N.C. 28472.
McKenzie Mortuary, 112 Jefferson St., Whiteville, is serving the Duncan family.
