Frederick Elmer Hinson, 80, of the New Hope community, died Saturday, July 1, 2017. He was the son of the late Daniel Otto Hinson and Flossie White Hinson.
He served in the National Guard and was a member of the Sons of the Confederacy.
He worked with Federal Paper for more than 43 years. He enjoyed airplanes, old cars and reading.
He was a member of New Hope Baptist Church where he served as a deacon.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 5 at McKenzie Mortuary. Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6 at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Darren Moore officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Joann Watson Hinson of Whiteville; one son, Charles Devon Hinson (Brandie) of Whiteville; three sisters, Irene H. Fluharty of Whiteville, Hilda H. Tingle of Bardstown, Ky. and Phyllis H. Cooper of Lake Waccamaw; one granddaughter, Lauren Raeanna Hinson of Morehead City.
