Glenda Baxley Smith, 61, died Saturday, June 16, 2018 after a brief illness at Southeastern Hospital in Lumberton surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 4, 1956. She was predeceased by her parents, Horace and Shirley Baxley of Elizabethtown.
She was a graduate of East Bladen High School and also attended Bladen Community College. For more than 20 years, she was the Business Administrative Secretary for Sampson-Bladen in Elizabethtown.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 19 at Bladen-Gaskins Funeral Home in Elizabethtown. Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 20 at Pleasant Grove Church in Bladenboro with Revs. Charleston Guyton, Cameron McGill and her son-in-law, Cory Russ officiating. At other times, the family will meet at 1205 Pleasant Grove Church Road in Bladenboro. Burial will be in the Brisson Cemetery, Hwy. 41, in Bladenboro.
She is survived by two daughters, Jennifer Smith Russ of Dublin and Amanda “Mandi” Smith Fief of Fayetteville; one brother, Horace Melvin Baxley of Harrells; one sister, Rosa Baxley English of Elizabethtown; and seven grandchildren.
