Harold Dean Cartrette, 70, died Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Whiteville. Born Jan. 26, 1946 in Columbus County, he was the son of the late Dewey Avery Cartrette and Evelyn Duncan Cartrette.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one daughter, Deana Cartrette; and one brother, Dewey Delane Cartrette.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, June 8 at Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church, Chadbourn. Final rites will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 9 at the church. Burial will be in McPherson Cemetery. Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Blackman Cartrette of the home; one son, Chad Cartrette of Chadbourn; one sister, Iris Cartrette McEwen of Clarkton; two grandchildren, Leanne Gail Cartrette, Chadwick Lee Cartrette Jr.; two stepgrandchildren, Justin Taylor, Grayson Meares; and two step great-grandchildren, Bryson Taylor and Tenley Taylor.
