Irvin Willard Brown, 73, of the Mt. Calvary community, passed Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 at Southeastern Regional Medical Center in Lumberton. He was the son of the late Irvin Mayo and Sarah Alice Thompson Brown and the husband of the late Shirley Ward Brown. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Larry Wayne Brown.
He was employed by Southern Industrial Constructors in Wilmington for 14 years as an electrical superintendant. Mr. Brown was one of the founders of the Columbus County Community Farmers Market serving as the president of the board of directors.
The family received friends Sunday, Sept. 4 at Worthington Funeral Home with a private interment service following with Revs. Neil Smith and Ricky Parker officiating at Mt. Calvary Original Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his wife, Donna Oakland Brown of the home; two daughters, Amy B. Waddell (Mike) of Fair Bluff and Greta Brown Sellers of Bladenboro; one brother, David E. Brown (Kay) of Richmond, Va.; and four grandchildren, Ashley Odom Collins (Bryan), Steven Andrew Odom (Candice), Sarah Kaitlyn Sellers and Jessica Kaylie Sellers.
