James Clarence Walters, Jr., known as J.C. to his friends and family, died peacefully at the age of 88 at Morrison Manor Tuesday, May 24, 2016 after a short illness. He was the son of James C. and Martha T. Walters of Whiteville.
He later married and moved to Maxton for a 41 year career at Hasty Plywood. After retirement, he and his late wife, Jean Peele Walter, relocated to Gibson, where he resided near friends and family until his passing.
In addition to his parents and wife, J.C. was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Walters Oliver.
He was a kind and generous man who loved his family, friends and church.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 26 at Richard Boles Funeral Service. Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, May 27 at Tabernacle United Methodist Church, Hwy. 381, Hamlet. The family will also be receiving friends at the home of Vernon and Carolyn Paul, 3576 Barrington Road, Bennettsville, S.C.
J.C. is survived by his children, Allen and wife, Whitney, of Winter Springs, Fla., and their daughters, Gwen and Keeley; daughter, Janet Wright of King George, Va. and her children, Mary, Wendy and Chris and youngest son, Joey Walters of Virginia Beach, Va.; stepson, Joe Cashwell of Fayetteville; and six great-grandchildren.
He was loved and supported by lots of other family and friends in the local area, far too many to mention.
