James ‘Pink’ Stevens


Mr. James “Pink” Stevens, 75, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Whiteville. He was born Jan. 9, 1943 in Columbus County, the son of the late Leroy and Edith Williamson Stevens. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Leroy Stevens Jr.; and a sister, Mary Ellen S. Reaves.
He was a member of Gore’s Chapel Baptist Church in Nakina. He was a retired farmer and worked in the commercial construction industry.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 12 at Peacock Funeral Home. A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, July 13, 2018 at Gore’s Chapel Baptist Church with Rev. Glenn Lane officiating. Burial will be in the Stevens Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Hathaway Stevens; two sons, Eric Stevens of Nakina and Brian Stevens and wife, Deanna, of Shallotte; one brother, Wendy Stevens and wife, Teresa, of Nakina; five sisters, Catherine S. Bertram and husband, Steve, of North Vernon, Ind., Linda S. Alderman of Punta Gorda, Fla., Vicki S. Tyree and husband, Delane, and Susie S. Vance and husband, William, both of Nakina, Rebecca S. Norris and husband, Al, of Franklinton; and a granddaughter, Kaylee Stevens.
