Jennie Lee Bowen, 84, of the East Arcadia community, died Friday, Jan. 13, 2017 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. She was the daughter of the late Zeble Lacewell and Catherine Allen of Riegelwood and the wife of the late Howard Bowen Sr.

Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 19 at Graham Chapel AMEZ Church with pastor Rev. William Peterson officiating. Viewing will be held from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18 in the chapel of Smith Funeral Home in Whiteville and Thursday, Jan. 19 one hour prior to the service at the church. There will be no viewing after the service.

She is survived by her children, Bessie Rothwell, Albert Bowen, Sandra Lewis, David Bowen, Cheryl Rothwell and Howard Bowen Jr., all of Riegelwood; two brothers, Willie Lacewell of New York and Wilbert Allen of Atkinson; seven sisters, Vina Jacobs of Riegelwood, Agnes Lacewell of Patterson, N.J., Olivia Allen, Sadie Daniels, Margaret Johnson, Alma Lacewell and Jackie Carter, all of Riegelwood; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
