Jennis O’Neil Smith, 78, of the Crusoe community, passed away Sunday, Nov. 19, 2017 at Columbus Regional Healthcare. He was the son of the late Effie Smith and Foy Smith.

A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday in the Etheridge Cemetery in Crusoe with Rev. Ervin Etheridge officiating.

He is survived by his wife of more than 58 years, Shirley Long Smith of the home; one daughter,  Connie S. Hyatt (LaVerne) of Abbottsburg; five siblings, Faye S. Etheridge and Carl Ray Smith, both of Whiteville, Mae Smith and James Freeman, both of Ash and Roddie Lane; and one grandson, Aaron O’Neil Hyatt.
