Jimmy Wayne Jones, 82, passed away peacefully early Friday, April 2, 2021, at Lower Cape Fear LifeCare in Wilmington. Jimmy was born May 1, 1938, in Lumberton, to the late Charlie Lafayette Jones and Rebecca Marcelle Hinson Jones.
He was a member of New Center Baptist Church in Bladenboro and was employed by Federal Paper Board/International Paper in Riegelwood for 43 years of service retiring in 2000.
The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 6 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at Floyd Memorial Gardens in Lumberton with Rev. Kevin Kinlaw officiating.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Jo McKeithan Jones of the home; three children, Christy Lynne Jones Hannan (Michael) of Leland, Wendy Ann Jones of Holly Ridge and Vicky Jones Hutchins of Wilmington; one sister, Faye Jones Cox of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Erin Nickens (Erich) of Wilmington, Reynolds Hutchins of Washington, D.C. and Christian Hutchins (fiancée, Katie Colin) of Malibu, Calif.; and a great-grandson, Ethan Nickens of Wilmington.
