John Cale Lennon Jr., 86, passed away Monday, Jan. 11, 2021.He was born Nov. 6, 1934, in Robeson County, to the late John Cale Lennon Sr. and Elizabeth Fisher Lennon. He was also predeceased by his wife, Patricia Whitley Lennon.
John graduated from Whiteville High School. He was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, serving in Germany in the 3rd Armored Division and later became a Captain in the National Guard. He went on to earn a B.A. in Business Administration and History from East Carolina University and later served as the Director of the Alumni Association from 1982-1983. In 1970 Mr. Lennon joined Central Carolina Bank and retired after 30 years, as a senior vice president. During his banking career he was also involved with Sales and Marketing Executives International (SMEI) and served as president.
John was an avid duck and quail hunter and ACC sports lover. He was known to be an avid storyteller and loved entertaining a crowd. In his later years he retired to his family farm in Whiteville.
A private service will be held. McKenzie Mortuary is serving the family.
Mr. Lennon is survived by one daughter, Sally Lennon Brown (Darren) of Alamo, Calif.; one son, John Cale Lennon III (Vivian) of Decatur, Ga.; Charle Hoffman Lennon the mother of his children; one stepdaughter, Ashley Inman of Whiteville; one stepson, Daryl Inman of Whiteville; and seven grandchildren, Cale Lennon, Nicholas Lennon, Katheryn Brown, Barrett Brown, Carmen Inman, Ella Inman and Yeats Inman.
