John Earl Rivers died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2017. He was born Feb. 17, 1936 in Anson County, to the late Arvel Rivers and Sarah Gainey Rivers.
Visitation will be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at Bryant Swamp Missionary Baptist Church in Bladenboro. A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at the church. Majestic Funeral Home of Elizabethtown is serving the family.
He is survived by his wife, Undine Leedell Rivers; three sons, Davis Rivers, Jason Kelly and Charles and Keith Rivers; four daughters, Sarah James, Doris Moss, Bernetta Kelly and Roslyn Burden; one stedaughter, Connie Thompson; 26 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and four great-great grandchildren.
