MC-USN (SS) John J. Norosky, 78, died Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was the son of the late Frank Stanley Norosky and Nellie Chesunas Norosky and was preceded in death by a brother, Frank C. Norosky.
He served in the U.S. Navy for more than 30 years and retired as Master Chief and was a high school teacher for more than 20 years.
He was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a Mason (Lebanon Lodge 207), Shriner, York Rite, Scottish Rite, Sojourners, Sunday school teacher and Order of the Eastern Star.
Final rites will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 24 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Ryan Clore officiating. Visitation will be held from noon-12:45 p.m. prior to the service Saturday, June 24 in the church fellowship hall. Burial will be in Whiteville Memorial Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy Huggins Norosky of the home; three sons, F. John Franklin Norosky of Groton, Conn., Glenn David Norosky of Belpre, Ohio and Walter Stanley Norosky of Santa Rosa, Calif.; three sisters, Victoria N. Harrah and Dina N. Boggs, both of Oak Hill., W.V., Aleta N. Hoffman of Lancaster, Va.; one brother, David C. Norosky of Oak Hill, W.V.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; and Daisy Norosky, special hunting companion.
