Lena Mae Long Simmons Cowan

Lena Mae Long Simmons Cowan, 85, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 11, 2016 at her residence.

She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Thelma Pierce Long and the widow of Tex Cowan. She was also preceded in death by her son, Harlem Simmons; and three siblings, Gertrude Long Clewis, Mary Lois Long Batten and Dorothy Long Reaves.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 at Worthington Funeral Home with Dr. Tommy Bryson Jr. officiating. The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m. Wednesday, June 15 (one hour prior to the service) at the funeral home in Chadbourn.

She leaves to cherish her memories, two daughters, Marlene Simmons Babson (Eddie) of Ash and Christine Simmons Isaula of Chadbourn; two siblings, Thelma Long Spivey of Bladenboro and Clarence Elwood Long of Boiling Spring Lakes; one daughter-in-law, Pat Herring Simmons of Whiteville; eight grandchildren, her caregiver and granddaughter, Melissa Babson Griffin and her husband, Jack, Paula Long, Michael Babson, Kenneth Simmons, Heath Babson, Matthew Webb, Marie Isaula and Ceceal Isaula; great-grandchildren, Joseph, Faith, McKenzie, Christopher, Travis, Jena Shandi, Hayden, Kelton and Josh (preceded); and great-great-grandchildren, Greyson, Katrina, Haley, Tessa and Andrea.
