Lola Whaley Whitt


Lola Whaley Whitt, 77, of Nakina, died Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at her home.  She was born in Columbus County December 24, 1939, the daughter of the late Herman Whaley and Ruth Maples Whaley.  She was also proceeded in death by her husband, the late Michael Whitt;  a daughter Angela Evans; brothers, Jimmy, Dwayne “Sam”, and Eugene Whaley.

She was a member of Happy Home Baptist Church.  She was formerly employed with Anvil Knitwear and Fieldcrest Mills.

She is survived by two granddaughters, Erica Evans and Katie Evans of Nakina; son-in-law, Timothy Evans of Nakina; four brothers Fred Whaley (Deb), Ben Whaley (Renita), Donnie Whaley (Martha) of Nakina, Glen Whaley, (Lora) of  Whiteville,  two sisters, Lorena Lein, (Wayne) of Fort Mills, SC,  Patricia Ridgeway, (Dean) of  Bladenboro.

Visitation will be Friday, July 14, 6-8 p.m. at Peacocks Funeral Home.  Final rites will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017 with Rev. Richard Collins.  Burial will be in Happy Home Baptist Church Cemetery.

 At the request of her grandmother, memorials may be made to the Katie Evans Scholarship Fund, 1433 MM Ray Rd. Nakina, NC 28455.
