Loleta Barnes McPherson, 90, of the Beaverdam community, died Tuesday, July 5, 2022, in the Liberty Commons Nursing and Rehab Center in Whiteville. Born July 28, 1931, in Robeson County, she was the daughter of the late Neal Barnes and Marietha Woodell Barnes and the widow of James Floyd McPherson.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by one son, Jerry McPherson; three sisters, Pansy Herring, Louise Lopushansky and Georgia Lewis; two brothers, Neal “Buddy” Barnes Jr. and John “Hector” Morris Barnes; and three grandchildren, Drina Faye Britt, William Harold Britt Jr. and Brianna McPherson.
Her funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, July 7, at Beaverdam Original Freewill Baptist Church. Visitation will be held one hour prior the service in the church. Burial will be in the McPherson Cemetery. Inman Ward Funeral Home and Crematory of Tabor City is serving the family.
She is survived by two daughters, Josephine Cannon of Nichols, S.C. and Andrea Faye Britt of Red Springs; two sons, J.R. McPherson and James Wallace McPherson, both of Chadbourn; one sister, Helen Snipes of Red Springs; nine grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
