Lyndon Douglas Purifoy

Rev. Lyndon Douglas Purifoy died Monday, July 26, 2021, at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was born Oct. 3, 1957, in New Bern, to the late Rev. McElree Purifoy and Julia Batson Purifoy.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Michael Purifoy and Emerson Thompson.
Rev. Purifoy was a pastor for more than 40 years. He was pastor at Covenant Community Church and most recently was a teaching pastor at Northwood Assembly in Whiteville.
A memorial service for Rev. Purifoy will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 11, at Northwood Church, 2672 James B. White Hwy. N. McKenzie Mortuary is serving the Purifoy Family.
He is survived by his wife, Penny Teresa Purifoy of Whiteville; three sons, Nathan Purifoy (Jessica) and Daniel Purifoy (Amy), both of Lakeland, Fla., Aaron Purifoy (Leah) of Pfafftown; and three grandchildren, Naomi Purifoy, Malakai Purifoy and Ella Purifoy.
