Mary “Valma” Ray Hardwick, 86, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 at her home. Born June 16, 1931 in Columbus County, she was the daughter of the late Zeno Ray and Luna Belle Wright Ray and the widow of Milford Mack Hardwick. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by one son, Jimmy Dale Hardwick; and one brother, Floyd Ray.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29 from 6-8 p.m. at Inman Ward Funeral Home of Tabor City. Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30 in the funeral home chapel. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
She is survived by two sons, Donald Hardwick of Whiteville, Michael Hardwick of Tabor City; one daughter, Rita Hursey of Loris, S.C.; one brother, Patrick Ray of Tabor City; one sister, Esther Nesbitt of Ashville; five grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
