Maryann Margaret (Nancy) Straussner Wilson

Maryann Margaret (Nancy) Straussner Wilson, 68, died Friday July 21, 2017 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Whiteville. She was born in Queens, N.Y., the daughter of the late Thomas Francis Straussner and Mary Patrica Curry.
Nancy was a member of Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church and was a YAYA’s Member-Shriners Hillbilly Unit. She worked as a secretary for more than 40 years and enjoyed anything to do with the lake at least when it involved her family, which she centered her whole life around.
Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 25 at Lake Waccamaw United Methodist Church with Dr. Fred Senter and Rev. Sam Loy officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 25 from 1-2:45 p.m. prior to service at the church. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery. McKenzie Mortuary is handling the arrangements.
Active pallbearers are Brent Pait, Glenn McPherson, Lynn Hinnant, Kendall Powell, Kelly Huffman, Justin Powell, Allen Powell and Joe Wilson III.
Survivors include her husband, Rodney E. Wilson of Lake Waccamaw; three sons, Rodney E. Wilson Jr. (Sheila), and Matthew E. Wilson (Tori), both of Lake Waccamaw, Thomas J. Wilson (Caroline) of Hallsboro; three brothers, James L. Straussner (Nancy) of Spring Hill, Fla., Thomas A. Straussner (Heidi) of Oceanside, Calif., Joseph P. Straussner of Lake Waccamaw; six grandchildren, Harper Wilson, Brynnan Wilson, Drayton Wilson, Katie Wilson, Kinsley Wilson, Lakyn Wilson; a special cousin, Regina Ann Demitrack; and several special nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Columbus County Shrine Club, P.O. Box 2093 and Lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center, 206 Warrior Trail, Whiteville, N.C.  28472.
