Max Berman Walker, 75, died Friday, June 17, 2016 at his residence. He was the son of the late Abijah and Mary Amanda Ward Walker. He was also preceded in death by seven siblings, Lenue Walker, Vada W. Lizotte, Vera W. Byrd, Eloise W. Byrd, Floyd Walker, Linnie W. Duncan and Elgy W. Stephens.
The family received friends Sunday, June 19 at Worthington Funeral Home in Chadbourn. Final rites will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 20 at the funeral home in Chadbourn with Rev. Jimmie Ray Tatum officiating. Interment will be in the Smith Family Cemetery in Clarendon.
He is survived by five daughters, Valerie W. Register, Janet W. Caswell, Rachel W. Houston, Meriam W. Fowler and Barbara W. Long, all of Whiteville; his former wife, Doretha S. Walker of Whiteville; one sister, Coleen W. Stephens of Council; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
