Patsy Blanton Powers, 64, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016. She was born in Robeson County July 29, 1951 to Davis and Lollie Blanton.
Mrs. Powers was the first female officer for the Lumberton Police Department and served for 17 years. She initiated the D.A.R.E. program of Robeson County and was also a member of the N.C. State Bureau of Investigation. She will also be remembered for her service with the Fair Bluff Post Office for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A time of visitation will take place from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13 at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 14 at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Meadows officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery.
She is survived by her husband, Ronnie Britt of the home; one son, Davis “D.J.” Powers of Lumberton; two sisters, Nancy Milligan and husband, Joe, of Chesapeake, Va. and Wanda Mercer of Holden Beach; and two grandchildren, Chasity Powers and Chloe Powers.
