Peggy Anne Coley, 69, passed away peacefully at home Thursday, June 9, 2016.
Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Doug Coley; her parents, Willis and Adelle Futrell Carter; and her brother, Tom Carter.
Peggy was always active and enjoyed spending most of her time gardening. She was known to participate in flower swaps with her family, friends and neighbors. She could always remember who had given her what flower and the story behind each plant. She was a very compassionate and caring person that gave of herself freely and unselfishly to others, earning her the title of “Mother to us all.” She will be missed.
Final rites will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, June 12 at Coble Ward-Smith Funeral Service. The family will receive friends following the service. A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 13 at Maplewood Cemetery in Mount Olive.
She is survived by three sons, Tim Gurganus, Stewart Mills and wife, Cressie, and Greg Mills and wife, Michelle; her brother, Randy Carter and wife, Denise; one sister, Sue Hice; sister-in-law, Rita Jones; and five grandchildren, Dalton Gurganus, Joshua Mills, Whitney Batten, Kieli Mills and Taiya Mills.
Flowers are welcome or memorial donations may be forwarded in Peggy’s name to the Boys and Girls Home of N.C., P.O. Box 127, Lake Waccamaw, N.C. 28450.
