Richard ‘Ricky’ Dale Barnes


Richard “Ricky” Dale Barnes, 70, formerly of Chadbourn passed away Wednesday, July 11, 2018 at his residence.
He was the son of the late Edith Vasti Merritt Barnes and Elsmer Ray Barnes. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Tommy Ray Barnes.
He honorably served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

He was employed by Barnes Paving Company in Lumberton for more than 35 years and later owned and operated Barnes Farms.

Final rites were held Saturday, July 14 at Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Jeff Cully officiating. Interment was in the Floyd Memory Gardens in Lumberton.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his wife, Wanda Kaye Edmund Barnes of the home; three daughters, Christy B. Thorndyke (Russ) and Stephanie Barnes Smith (Joey), both of Lumberton and Nichole Barnes Gohs (Geoff) of Wilmington; one sister, Sue Wiseman of Summerville, S.C.; and seven grandchildren, Jonathan Corbett, Lauren Thorndyke, Jordan Smith, Garret Smith, Austin Thorndyke, Mason Gohn and Adelyn Gohs.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Southeastern Hospice House, 100 Pine Run Drive, Lumberton, N.C. 28358.
Condolences may be offered at Worthington Funeral Home, 405 E. Strawberry Blvd., Chadbourn, N.C. 28431.
