Robert Edison Lennon Sr., 79, died Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2018 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center.He was born Dec. 4, 1938 in Wilmington, the son of the late James Edison Lennon and Lydia McGowan Lennon. He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Edison “Eddie” Lennon Jr.
He was married to his wife, Geraldine, for 60 years. He was a member of Livingston Baptist Church. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and was on the missions committee. He worked at the General Electric Nuclear Plant as a training development supervisor and quality control auditor for more than 25 years. After retirement from GE in 1994, he started Lennon International (an Amway independent business).
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.-noon Saturday, Jan. 13 at Livingston Baptist Church, 4629 Livingston Chapel Road with service beginning at noon in the church sanctuary with Pastors Matthew Griffin and Richard Wade officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Quinn-McGowen Funeral Home of Burgaw is handling the arrangements.
He is survived by his wife, Geraldine Horrell Lennon; one daughter, Kim Lennon Abernethy; one sister, Elaine Babson; one brother, Jim Lennon; seven grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
