Roscoe Gore, 81, died Monday, Oct. 3, 2016 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington. He was born Aug. 15, 1935 in Columbus County, the son of the late William Clayton Gore and Geneva Long Gore. He was the widower of Ina Faye Carlyle Gore. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Leroy and Clyde Gore; three sisters, Eva Mae Gore, Ila Dae Reaves, and Erma Goff; and one grandson.
He was the owner and operator of Gore’s Service Station for 47 years and attended Gore’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Peacock’s Funeral Home in Whiteville. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 6 at Gore’s Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Glen Lane officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
He is survived by one daughter, Shelia Singletary of Tabor City; one son, Delane Gore of Tabor City; one brother, Harold Gore of Nakina; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
