Ruby Byrd Pinyatello, 94, formerly of the Whiteville area, went to be with the Lord Monday, Dec. 4, 2017 at Parkway Hospital, Alabama. She was born May 28, 1923 in Duplin County. She was the daughter of the late Strange Vance Byrd and Dora Elizabeth Lane Byrd. She was the widow of the late James Dominic Pinyatello. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a daughter, Bonnie Greene; and great-grandson, Braxton Edwards.
Mrs. Pinyatello was a former member of Trinity Baptist Church. She was formerly employed with Belk for 10 years.
Visitation will be held from 10-11:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at Peacock Funeral Home in Whiteville with her funeral service beginning at 11:30 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Kenny Byrd officiating. Interment will be in Columbus Memorial Park immediately following the service.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda Waters and husband, Marlon, of Hartselle, Ala., Teresa Edwards and husband, John, of Decatur, Ala.; one sister, Gladys McCullen of Wilmington; seven grandchildren, Tommy Greene, Daryl Greene, Kim Edwards, Michelle Hopper, Cherie Alexander, Stacy Compton, and Missy Owens; 14 great-grandchildren, Seth Greene, Hallie Greene, Max Greene, Jadyn Owens, Peyton Owens, Devin Owens, Whitney Alexander, Aaron Alexander, Adston Compton, Kayla Compton, Talyn Hopper, Allie Hopper, Jase Hopper and Cameron Edwards; two great-great grandchildren, Taytum Hopper and Braylynn Edwards; and a son-in-law, Tom Greene of Whiteville.
