Samuel (Andy) Andrew Turner, 66, passed away Monday, July 11, 2022, after a brief illness.
Born Aug. 26, 1955, in Whiteville, at Columbus County Hospital, Andy was the sixth of seven children and the fifth-born son to Bill and Fredrica Turner.
He was preceded in death by his father, William (Bill) Turner, his mother, Fredrica (Freddie) Wadsworth Turner Stell; and his brother, Robert (Bobby) Turner.

In his early years, Andy was a Boy Scout, a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Whiteville and later a trainer for the Whiteville High School football team. He attended Southeastern Community College after high school and remained a sports enthusiast throughout his life. In recent years, Andy resided at West Bladen Assisted Living Center in Bladenboro, where he had great appreciation and fondness for the staff.
There will be a private family-only service for Andy at a later date. McKenzie Mortuary is serving the family.
He is survived by three brothers, Bill (and Elizabeth) Turner of Whiteville, Richard (and Susanna) Turner of Pinehurst Craig (and Chris) Turner of Wilmington; two sisters, Jean Turner of Bishop, Calif. and Michele Turner (and Dan) Murphy of Stockbridge, Ga.; along with nephews, Will and Josh Turner, Curt and Brian Turner, Brannon Dempsey, Forrest and Clay Turner and Michael Turner; nieces, Jocelyn Turner Whitlock, Emily and Annie Turner; as well as nine great-nephews and three great-nieces.
