Mrs. Sarah “Peggy” Elizabeth Sanders Dudney, 90, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2020. She was born May 7, 1930, in Marion County, the daughter of the late John Gary and Alma Capps Sanders. She was preceded in death by her husband, Eldred C. Dudney Sr.; two brothers; and one sister.
Mrs. Dudney was a member of the Jones Street Missionary Baptist Church in Tabor city and a retired CNA.
Viewing was held Sunday, Sept. 13 in the Meares Funeral Home in Fair Bluff. A private graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 in the Powell Cemetery with Rev. Kenneth Smith officiating.
She is survived by one son, Eldred “Chip” Dudney Sr. of Chapel Hill; three daughters, Shannon Evans of Lumberton, Pamela(Winfred) Prince of Tabor City and Kem Dudney of Waynesboro, Va.; one brother, Laurens Sanders of Flat Rock; two sisters, Margaret Davis of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Lorraine Stackhouse of Marion, S.C.; four grandchildren, Daniel Prince of Wilmington, Amber (Jesse) Coleman of Tabor City, Seth (Hayley) Evans of Concord, Rachel Evans of Raleigh; and give very special great-grandchildren.
