Shirley Aurthalia Burney

Shirley Aurthalia Burney, 74, formerly of Council, died Sunday, Nov. 22, 2020, at Novant Health Hospice.

A walk-through viewing will be held from 2- 2:45 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 29, at Shady Grove AME Zion Church on Microwave Tower Road in Council. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at New Hope Community Cemetery on Sarah Peterson Road in Council with Bishop Monroe Gilbert officiating. Peoples Funeral Home of Whiteville is serving the family.

Surviving are her children, Carla Gilbert (Jeffrey) of Paterson, N.J., Jennifer Burney of Matthews and Victor Burney (Akeita) of Charlotte.
