Mr. Thoma Javie “T.J.” Kinlaw Sr., 75, died Sunday evening, July 3, 2016. He was born Aug. 30, 1940 in Columbus County, the son of the late Dewitt Kinlaw and Rosa Lee Powers. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph “Tooter” Kinlaw and Daniel Kinlaw; and one sister, Shirley Kinlaw Stubbs.
T.J. owned Kinlaw Used Cars in Lumberton and was a farmer.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, July 7 at Peacock Funeral Home. His funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 7 in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Warrick officiating. Burial will be in Columbus Memorial Park.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; one son, Thomas “Tommy” Javie Kinlaw Jr.; four brothers, Harold “Buddy” Kinlaw, Mack Kinlaw, both of Whiteville, Willie Kinlaw and wife, Shelly, of Conway, S.C., Edward Kinlaw and wife, Cynthia, of Clarendon; three sisters, Lillie Sealey and husband, Craven, Kay Jones and Faye Truesdale and husband, Stephen, all of Whiteville; three grandchildren, Thomas J. Kinlaw III, Tyler Kinlaw, Kristen Kinlaw; one great-grandson, Elliott Kinlaw; and many nieces and nephews.
