Virginia Corbin Cox

Virginia Corbin Cox, 71, went to be with her Lord Sunday, June 5, 2016 at Lower Cape Fear Hospice and LifeCare Center in Whiteville.

She was a native of Florence, S.C. and the daughter of the late George Lee and Mary Virginia Holifield Corbin.

She served as the director of medical transcription at Mercy Healthcare in Baltimore, Md. for 25 years before retiring in 2010. After retiring, she along with her husband, Robert, moved to Chadbourn, becoming very active in many civic organizations and activities. She was a member of Chadbourn United Methodist Church and served as director of Chadbourn Revitalization Corporation/Chadbourn Depot Museum.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 6 at Worthington Funeral Home. Final rites will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday, June 7 at Chadbourn United Methodist Church with Revs. Pat Inman and Dwayne Dickerson officiating. Viewing will be held Tuesday, June 7 one hour prior to the service at the church.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 51 years, Robert Eugene Cox of the home; one daughter, Cathleen Corbin Brown and her husband, Gregory, of Winston-Salem; one brother, George Lee Corbin and his wife, Joan, of Camden, S.C.; a sister-in-law, Dolores Cox of Whiteville; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
