Walter Dean Brown

Rock Hill, South Carolina

Walter Dean Brown, 94, died Thursday, June 15, 2017 at his home. Born in Gastonia, he was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Dean Brown and Winnie Lucille Inman and his first wife, Martha Lee Davidson Brown.

He was retired from the U.S. Air Force as a Chief Master Sgt, serving from 1942 until 1964 during WWII and the Korean War.

He was Vice President and Dean of Faculty at Southeastern Community College in Whiteville.

The family will receive friends starting at 1 p.m. and the  funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, June 18 at Adnah United Methodist Church with Rev. David McManus officiating. Burial will be in Ebenezer ARP Church Cemetery. Greene Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 25 years, Merle Caldwell Brown; four sons, Alan D. Brown of Alexandria, Va., Harold A. Brown of Hastings, Mich., Dale L. Brown of Raleigh and Duane S. Brown of Fort Mill, S.C.; one daughter, Lucille Brown of Tampa Fla.; nine grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

The family requests that memorials may be made to Hospice and Community Care, P.O. Box 993, Rock Hill, S.C. 29731 or to Adnah UMC, 1 Adnah Drive, Rock Hill, S.C. 29732
