Wilbur Guy Gore

Mr. Wilbur Guy Gore, 91, passed away Sunday, Jan. 23, 2022. He was born in Columbus County, the son of the late Robert H. Gore and Vassie Gore.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Betty Holmes Gore; a daughter, Bobbie Joe Gore Cumbee; two brothers, Ed Gore and Howard Gore; and six sisters, Ola Leigh Cox, Clovis Long, Jeanette Long, Betty Jo Long, Agnes Stocks and Wanda Nell Stocks.
He was the owner and operator of Gore’s Grocery for more than 30 years. He was a farmer for many years.
A graveside service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 27, at Bethesda United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Sides officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to service at the church. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Peacock Funeral Home of Whiteville is serving the family.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Krystal Stanley, Jason Cumbee and Johnathan Cumbee; eight great-grandchildren, Dustin Evans, Cale Hinson, Madison Stanley, Alyssa Cumbee, Kadence Cumbee, Gabriel Cumbee, Gunner Cumbee and Damien Cumbee; and many nieces and nephews.
