William (Billy) Archie Butler

William (Billy) Archie Butler, 85, died Jan. 12, 2017 at his residence. He was born in New Hanover County, the son of the late Wescott and Mary Shelley Butler and was also preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Butler.
Billy was a lifelong member of Union Valley Baptist Church and was a member of the RSVP of Columbus County at Southeastern Community College. He enjoyed attending his church and also working in his yard mowing grass.
The family received friends Saturday, Jan.14 at Western Prong Baptist Church followed a funeral service with Revs. Ronnie Wilson and Chip Hannah officiating. Interment was in Columbus Memorial Park. McKenzie Mortuary handled the arrangements.
Survivors include sons, W.C. Butler (Elaine), Dale Butler (Ann), Ray Butler (Wanda), all of Whiteville; two brothers, Vernon Keeter of Lake Waccamaw and Johnny Keeter of Harvest, Ala.; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Union Valley Baptist Church, 2322 Smyrna Road, Whiteville, N.C. 28472, Columbus County RSVP, c/o Southeastern Community College, P.O.
