Mr. William Judson Ward, 98, passed away Thursday, June 9, 2022. He was born Aug. 15, 1923, the son of the late George Thomas Ward and Sarah Theresa Hewett Ward of Nakina.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Geraldine Ray Ward; brothers, Thomas Lenon Ward, Robert Gaston Ward, George Hubert Ward and Wilbur Daniel Ward.
Mr. Jud was a lifetime farmer, an active deacon in his church for 49 years, a member of the Brunswick County Sudan Shrine Club and a lifetime friend to many.
His funeral service will be conducted at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Mount Olive Baptist Church. Rev. Anthony Clemmons will be officiating. The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. at the church. A family burial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday, June 17, at the Ward-Coleman Cemetery in Nakina. White Funeral and Cremation Service, Bolivia/Supply Chapel is serving the family.
He is survived by one daughter, Dorinda Ward Grissom and husband, Louis, of Wilmington; one son, Judson Terry Ward of Cocoa Beach, Fla.; one brother, Dr. John David Ward and wife, Betty, of Shallotte; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be directed to the Lower Cape Fear LifeCare Foundation.
