Willis Stead Hyatt, 86, passed away on Saturday, June 11, 2022, at home surrounded by his family. He was born Aug. 21, 1935, in Chadbourn, the son of the late Franklin Leo Hyatt and Nancy Jane (Brigman) Hyatt.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lynda (Greene) Hyatt, in 2014; a daughter, Neiga Hyatt; three brothers, R.C. Hyatt Sr., Eugene Hyatt and Levon Hyatt; and three sisters, Nora McPherson, Ima Jean Townsend and Virginia Mincey.
The family will receive friends from 6–8 p.m. Monday at Sweet Home Baptist Church. His funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 14, at the church in Clarendon. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Inman Ward Funeral Home and Crematory of Tabor City is serving the family.
He is survived by one son, Stanley Hyatt of Clarendon; one daughter, Renee (Mark) Collins of Clarendon; one sister, Loris McPherson of Chadbourn; three grandchildren, Crystal (Ronnie) Ward of Whiteville, Calvin (Misty) Keisler and Reegan Hyatt, both of Clarendon; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and many nieces and nephews.
