Darian Ransom of Whiteville was the runaway winner of the week three Allstate-Angela Slagle Agency Pigskin Picks contest. He will receive $50. In one of the most difficult weeks to pick winners in contest history, Ransom was correct on 12 of 13 selections. The participants closest to Ransom were Dawn Price, Michele Haigler and Eddie Hall with nine correct selections each.
Ransom’s only miss was East Carolina’s 44-24 win over USF. He was not alone. Every contestant picked USF to defeat the Pirates. The average number of correct picks out of this week’s 13 games was 6.8. Although it did not come into play this week, the correct tiebreaker highest point total was 111 in Alabama’s 63-48 win over Mississippi. Austin Ward’s prediction of 95 points was the closest any contestant came to the correct answer.
It’s not too late to play. The contest is scheduled to run for seven more weeks. A print entry form is available on page 2B in Tuesday’s paper. You may play online by clicking here or visiting NRcolumbus.com and clicking on the contest ad on the home page. The contest is free and you don’t have to be a subscriber to play.
