Tuesday was not a good night for Columbus County Dixie softball teams.
South Carolina again was South Columbus’ kryptonite, defeating the North Carolina representative 8-1. South Carolina also defeated South Columbus 7-2 in opening round play on Saturday. The South Columbus Angels battled back through the loser’s bracket, winning three games in a row to reach the final four before dropping Tuesday night’s game.
Tennessee brought the Columbus County Debs winning streak to a halt with a 10-6 victory. Kelsey Carroll’s three-run homer was the highlight for Columbus. This left three teams with one loss each. Since all three squads had played an equal number of games, a draw was held for the bye into the championship game. Tennessee drew the bye. Columbus County will meet the host Alexandria, LA team at 6:30 p.m. EDT, Wednesday. The winner will play Tennessee later for the title.
Columbus County defeated Alexandria 6-5 in nine innings in second round play Sunday.
