Central takes “Super Tuesday” title, photos

The regular season champion Central Hornets met runner-up Acme-Delco in the final contest of “Super Tuesday” at Acme-Delco Tuesday evening. The Trojans led 6-0 at halftime. Central converted two second half touchdowns and two-point conversions to come away with a 16-6 victory.

E.J. McCloud scored the first touchdown for Central with Zion Wilson converting the two-point conversion. Shaheem Shipman ran for the next Hornet score with McCloud converting the two-point play. Larry Jones scored the first-half touchdown for Acme-Delco.

In the battle between third-place Tabor City and fourth-place Hallsboro, the Eagles bested the Tigers by a score of 30-12. The events first contest had Williams facing West Columbus. West Columbus took a 20-6 win over the Aggies.

The contests were played with a few rule modifications that included no kickoffs and liberal running of the clock to speed up play.
