Columbus County Striders complete in Durham

The Columbus County Striders competed in the Russell E. Blunt East Coast Invitational July 21stat Durham County Memorial Stadium in Durham, NC.

Sprint participants included: (8 and under) Aliah Jacobs and Christopher Long,  (11-12) Anayah Robinson, Cinyia Thompson-Boatwright, Naomi Rogers, Xavier Allen and Amari Best, (13-14 ) Zachareya Elleby.  All eight competed in the 100m and 400m dashes.

Amari Best qualified for the finals in the 400m dash placing eighth overall with a personal record of 1:02.54

Jordan Mathis competed for the first time ever in the (13-14) discus and shot put placing sixth overall in the shot put to win a medal with a throw of 9.34 meters (30’8”).

The summer season is coming to an end, but the team is gearing up for the indoor season with no interruption in practice.
