Hallsboro’s goalie makes the save during the shootout.

East Columbus Soccer coach speaks with Hallsboro principal Derrick Boyd before checking out future Gator soccer players.

Tuesday, Hallsboro dealt Acme-Delco its second loss. The Tigers and Trojans were tied at three each after regulation. Hallsboro took the win with a 2-1 advantage in penalty kicks. Williams continued its quest for the title with a 3-0 win over Tabor City. Nakina’s 6-2 win over Evergreen keeps the Mustangs in the hunt.

Monday, Nakina’s 6-5 win over Cerro Gordo eliminated the Stingers from title contention. Hallsboro edged Tabor City 3-2 and Acme-Delco shut out Chadbourn 7-0.

Central Middle was idle and carries a 5-1 mark into its match at Evergreen Thursday. Williams is now 5-1-1, Hallsboro and Nakina are both 5-2, while Acme-Delco is 3-2-1. Nakina finishes play at Hallsboro Thursday.

A shootout between Williams and Acme-Delco will take place at West Columbus Thursday at 5:45 p.m. to determine a winner of the contest that took place on November 7. Due to a miscommunication with an official, a shootout did not take place to determine the match winner. The completion is necessary because a number of teams possible championship outcomes depend on which team wins.

For a complete report on all possible scenarios see Thursday’s print edition of The News Reporter.
