The Central Middle Hornets clinched the Columbus County Boys Soccer title with a 7-0 win at Acme-Delco Monday. The match finished a season where as many as six teams had a mathematical chance of claiming the championship heading into the final week of regular season play. Central completed play with a 7-1 mark, followed by Williams and Hallsboro with records of 6-2.
South Columbus Boys basketball picked up its first win of the season with a non-conference victory over Green Sea-Floyds by a 57-50 score. Shiquan Conyers led the way with 19 points. Trey Bellamy and Zach Mckoy each contributed a double-double. Bellamy scored 14 points and had 11 rebounds. McCoy added 10 and 10. South Columbus dropped the girls game 53-35.
Coach Eddie Ravenell picked up his first win as East Columbus Girls coach with a 58-29 win over Wilmington Christian Academy. The Gators ran out to a 22-3 first quarter advantage and were never threatened. Wilmington Christian won the boys game 65-60. WCA’s Conley Burk led all scorers with 26 points.
