South Columbus’ Landon Rising shot a 77 at Fairmont CC to take medalist honors in Monday’s TRC match. He came in three strokes ahead of Caleb Click. Whiteville’s Matthew Townsend finished in a third-place tie with West Bladen’s Evan Richardson and Chad Garner. Each shot an 83. South Columbus again posted the low team score with a 343. West Bladen was second at 359 and Whiteville third at 363.

Squads in places two through four held serve in Boys Tennis Monday. Whiteville defeated West Columbus 8-1. St. Pauls downed West Bladen 7-2 and East Columbus won 6-3 over East Bladen. Tennis standings and upcoming matches can be found at the end of this post.

Middle school softball and baseball regular season play in s winding down. Central swept Tabor City 10-0 and 6-2 in baseball. Nakina defeated Williams 9-5. Acme-Delco shut out Evergreen 10-0. Cerro Gordo handed Chadbourn a 13-3 loss. Softball saw Williams narrowly escape Nakina’s upset bid, winning 13-12 in eight innings. Acme-Delco defeated Chadbourn 21-1.

Three Girls Soccer non-conference matches were cancelled due to unplayable field conditions.
