Non-Conference Middle School hoops wraps up

Tuesday had three non-league match ups. A-League play begins Thursday.

Hallsboro’s girls defeated Cerro Gordo 35-9. Alanna Deal scored 18 for the Tigers. Aziya Barr added eight. Hallsboro’s boys completed the sweep with a 39-31 victory. Jamar Williams led Hallsboro with 13 points. Nasseem McAllister chipped in eight.

Tabor City’s girls outscored Chadbourn 11-4 in the fourth period to take a 27-25 come-from-behind win over Chadbourn. Breanna Scott scored six points and Bailey Clemmons five for Tabor City. Gabby Rouse collected 19 points for Chadbourn. The Tiger boys earned a split with a 40-19 win. Brandis Kelly’s nine and Naquis Johnson’s seven points led the balanced Chadbourn attack. Austin Mayo and Chris Elleby scored seven points each for Tabor City.

In front of a packed gym at Williams, visiting Nakina came away with two wins. The Mustang girls won 20-17 and the boys took a 39-26 decision.

Thursday A-League action has Hallsboro at Nakina and Williams at Tabor City. Central had a bye, but will host Acme-Delco in a non-conference tilt.
