The regular season Area II championship was up for grabs at Buck Hardee Field as Whiteville Post 137 visited Wilmington Post 10. Whiteville had defeated Wilmington 7-2 the previous Sunday. A Post 137 victory would have tied the two teams and given Whiteville the tiebreaker. It was not meant to be as Post 10 cruised to a 10-0, five-inning win.

Whiteville’s Brooks Baldwin led off the game with a single. It would turn out to be Post 137’s only hit. Only a walk to Dawson Elliott in the fourth inning kept Wilmington’s Price King from recording the the final 15 batters consecutively. Post 10 catcher Kyle Smith led off the bottom of the inning with a home run off Baldwin, providing the only run King would need. Post 10 did not stop there, adding two more runs in the first and another in the third off Baldwin.

Dylan Lawson and Jacob Allgood  pitched in relief for Whiteville. Post 10 added a single run in the fourth and five more in the fifth to halt the contest due to the run-rule.

The win gives Post 10 first round bye in the upcoming Area II playoffs. Whiteville is scheduled to face Jacksonville Post 265 in a best-of-three series beginning Thursday in Whiteville.
