Post 137 downs Wallace, important contest with Hope Mills tonight

Whiteville Post 137 defeated Wallace Post 156 11-3 behind home runs from A.J. Brooks, Gage Hammonds and Zac Hunt.  Brooks reached base in all five plate appearances with three walks and a single in addition to his solo homer. Hammonds added two singles to his two-run, third inning blast. Hunt’s two-run shot came in the sixth. Brooks Baldwin tripled and singled. Jeremiah Locklear added two base hits. Will Hinson and Jake Butler doubled.

Carter recorded the mound victory, striking out six and allowing three hits in four and one-third innings. Zac Hunt and A. J. Brooks pitched in relief.

In other Area II news, Morehead City and Wilmington Post 10 split a doubleheader June 19 in Wilmington. Post 10 win game one 8-6. Morehead City picked up its first win, 2-1, utilizing a strong mound performance from Davis Tyndall. Tyndall, the grandson of Maryann and Mike Tyndall of Whiteville, allowed only a first-inning single in pitching the complete game victory.
