Volleyball, Boys Soccer middle school style

Middle school sports action will be hot and heavy as the Waccamaw Middle School Conference attempts to determine three division champions in the span of one month in Volleyball and Boys Soccer. Volleyball will conclude with the Nakina Mustang Invitational November 26-30.

VOLLEYBALL

Clarkton School of Discovery took advantage of its home court with volleyball wins over Nakina and previously undefeated Central Thursday. Clarkton defeated Nakina 25-23, 25-18.  Clarkton also topped Central in two sets by scores of 25-18, 28-26. Central and Nakina each defeated Tar Heel 2-0.

Williams remained unbeaten in AA division play with a 25-23, 25-18 win over Hallsboro. In a non-conference match, the Aggies split sets with Elizabethtown before winning the final set 15-8. Hallsboro and Elizabethtown each earned wins over Bladenboro.

In A division action at Evergreen, Tabor City swept two matches. The Eagles defeated Acme-Delco 25-15, 25-14, and then topped Cerro Gordo 25-15, 25-10. Evergreen downed Acme-Delco 25-23, 25-7. The evening’s final match was a tight one, with Cerro Gordo edging Evergreen 2-1 by scores of 24-26, 25-23 and 15-13.

BOYS SOCCER

 The opening afternoon of Boys Soccer featured an exciting match between Clarkton and Central. Clarkton scored first, but Central tied the score before halftime. The Hornets scored the lone second-half goal to break a one-all tie and defeat Clarkton 2-1.

In other action, Elizabethtown and Hallsboro were tied at one apiece at intermission. Elizabethtown scored three second-half goals for a 4-1 win. Bladenboro shut out Nakina 3-0. Tar Heel stopped Williams 6-0.

 

Middle school volleyball and boys soccer action continues Tuesday.
