South Columbus defeated West Bladen 3-1 in a Three Rivers Conference match at Dublin with the scores of 25-20, 22-25, 26-16 and 25-13. South Columbus coach Davis Marlowe said, “We played well in the third and fourth sets after losing the second set. This finished off a busy week for South Columbus with three wins in three days.” The match was originally scheduled for Thursday but moved up to avoid any possible effects from Hurricane Michael. Anna Caroline Suggs had 15 kills and six aces. Sarah Faulk had 16 kills. Makala Wright had 10 kills and five blocks. Roxy Bryant had three aces, seven kills and 24 assists. Libby Blosser had 20 assists and two aces. Chantel Washington had two aces and 27 digs. Alexis Todd had five aces. Michelle Cartrette had two kills and Taylor Hickman had three blocks. South Columbus is now 14-1 in TRC play and 18-1 overall. South Columbus JV won 2–1 to continue leading the conference. They are 12-1 in Conference play and 15-2 overall.
Whiteville was shut out by St. Pauls 3-0. East Bladen defeated East Columbus 8-0. West Bladen edged Red Springs 1-0.
MS GIRLS SOCCER
Clarkton stayed unbeaten with an 8-0 win over Hallsboro. Central also remained undefeated with a 6-1 win over Bladenboro. Central and Clarkton played to a two-all draw in the season opener prior to Hurricane Florence.
