Saturday was a big day for the varsity cheerleaders of West Columbus. In competition held at Apex Friendship High School, the Vikings came away with the Division 2, Small Varsity, Non-tumbling State Championship. Division 2 is for 1A and 2A squads. Small consists of 6-15 members. West Columbus will next compete in the Cheer Ltd. Nationals in Myrtle Beach, S.C. They are currently seeking sponsors to offset expenses. If interested, contact Tasha Bass Dyson, varsity cheerleading sponsor at West Columbus.

In addition, Viking cheerleader Kaylyn “KK” Horne was named All-Region. Horne will cheer at the East-West games held July 15-19 in Greensboro. She also has been invited to try out for the 2017 All-State team. All-State tryouts will take place April 2.
