The Whiteville Howl played two friendlies Saturday at Nash Field in North Myrtle Beach, against teams from Myrtle Beach’s Coast FA group. The Howl played to a three-all draw against the 10U team, before falling 5-1 to the 12U team.
In the match against the 10U team, midfielders Paxton Bass and Diego Saucedo, with forward Westyn Hill connecting on a penalty kick, scored Whiteville goals. Howl keeper Tucker Herring had a save in the final minute on a breakaway to preserve the tie.
The Howl found itself up against an older, more experienced team in its second match, as Myrtle Beach won 5-1. Gilberto Segovia-Maldonado scored Whiteville’s lone goal.
Coach Eric Hill was pleased with the overall effort. The Howl hope to schedule more friendlies with area teams in the spring. More information about Whiteville Howl Soccer can be found on its Facebook page.
